Its mission is to bring equity to pediatric healthcare by offering underserved patients direct access to their primary care provider through traditional medical office visits, telemedicine, and mobile medical services while providing comprehensive, prevention-oriented healthcare, care navigation services, and integrated behavioral health services.
About the Registered Nurse
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Registered Nurse to join our pediatric healthcare team. As a Pediatric RN, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality nursing care to pediatric patients, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being throughout their healthcare journey. Your responsibilities will include providing direct patient care and coordinating with healthcare professionals and other teams such as the Behavioral Health and Care Navigation and Wellness Departments. You will also be responsible for supporting the Medical Assistants and the Practice Manager.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist providers with management of patient medical records in Athena, managing clinical documents such as lab results and specialty notes

Triage urgent patient calls and assist with scheduling same-day appointments

Conduct follow-up phone calls for ED visits, hospitalizations, and surgeries

Complete clinical documents such as Prior Authorizations and specialty referral paperwork

Manage requests for durable medical equipment

Follow up with patients on lab and radiology orders

Assist patients with scheduling specialty appointments

Assist pediatric healthcare providers and medical assistants in conducting patient assessments, including gathering vital signs, height, weight, and medical history.

Prepare examination rooms and medical equipment for patient visits, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and availability of necessary supplies.

Escort patients and their families to examination rooms, providing any documents and forms that are needed, and ensure they are properly completed.

Perform routine clinical procedures under the supervision of healthcare providers, such as administering vaccinations, collecting specimens, and conducting vision and hearing screenings.

Provide education and instructions to patients and their families regarding medication administration, follow-up care, and preventive health measures.

Assist with administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and answering phone calls to support the medical receptionists when needed.

Uphold confidentiality and patient privacy rights, maintaining professionalism and sensitivity in all interactions with pediatric patients and families.

Perform comprehensive nursing assessments of pediatric patients, including infants, children, and adolescents, to gather data on their health status and needs.

Collaborate with other departments to coordinate patient care, facilitate multidisciplinary rounds, and ensure the patient's overall needs and healthcare goals are being met.
Requirements:

Active State Registered Nursing License.

Experience with pediatric electronic medical records systems, such as Athena.

Proficient in Spanish and/or other languages.

Previous nursing experience in pediatric healthcare settings.

Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple patient care needs effectively.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with pediatric patients and their families.

Empathy, patience, and a child-friendly demeanor.

Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team where care is delivered in a comprehensive and integrated manner.

Adhere to ethical and professional standards of practice, such as HIPPA and compliance, to ensure safety in the workspace, as well as patient confidentiality and respect patients' rights and preferences.
