On Tuesday, November 25th, Boston Community Pediatrics (BCP) hosted its 5th annual Thanksgiving meal distribution.
On Tuesday, November 25th, Boston Community Pediatrics hosted its 5th Annual Thanksgiving Meal Distribution, providing a powerful reminder of what is possible when a community comes together in support of families.
Thanks to the generosity of donors, volunteers, and partners, BCP distributed more than 375 complete Thanksgiving meals, nourishing over 1,875 community members in a single day.
While Thanksgiving is meant to be a season of gratitude and connection, the holiday can bring significant stress for many families. Rising food costs, persistent inflation, uncertainty around SNAP funding, and mounting healthcare expenses continue to create pressure for families working hard to meet their most basic needs. BCP believes families should be able to focus on spending meaningful time together during the holidays, not worrying about putting food on the table.
A Community Effort to Support Families
With the help of dedicated volunteers from the BCP Brigade and the National Charity League Wellesley Area Chapter, as well as Jacobson for providing space, BCP was able to distribute meals that included turkeys, homemade sides and pies, cranberry relish, fresh fruits and vegetables, shelf-stable groceries, gift cards, and more.
The locally sourced dishes included:
Mac & Cheese from Magic Empanadas
Mashed Potatoes from Artee’s Foods and Catering
Green Beans from Lalu’s Chicken
Apple Pie from Big Little Pies
Families were also able to select new winter coats for their children. For those unable to attend in person, meals were delivered directly to their homes.
Advancing Health Through Equity
This event reflects what equity in action truly looks like: meeting families where they are and addressing the social determinants of health, such as food insecurity, as an essential part of comprehensive, relationship-driven pediatric care.
BCP remains committed to ensuring Boston’s children and families have what they need to thrive, not only on Thanksgiving but every day of the year.
BCP extends deep gratitude to everyone who made this day possible through their generosity, partnership, and dedication.
