Boston Community Pediatrics (BCP) is changing the way we define healthcare for our children. As the first nonprofit pediatric private practice in the Commonwealth–and one of the first in the nation–BCP is bringing income and racial equity to pediatrics by providing all families with comprehensive, high-quality, culturally competent care, regardless of their ability to pay. At BCP, patients receive fully-integrated, onsite medical and mental health care, as well as robust care navigation and wellness programming to address housing, food insecurity, early childcare, education needs, and more. As BCP enters an exciting phase of growth and expansion, it is strengthening its major gifts program to support long-term sustainability and prepare for a future growth and expansion campaign.

Position Overview 

Boston Community Pediatrics seeks a driven, detail-oriented, relational Director of Philanthropic Investments to lead and grow a portfolio of high-capacity individual donors during a pivotal period of expansion.

Reporting directly to the Founder and Executive Director, Dr. Robyn Riseberg, the Director of  Philanthropic Investments will own and manage a robust portfolio of individual major donors and prospects. This role will be responsible for designing and executing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies that deepen investment and build momentum toward a future campaign for expansion.

This position is ideal for a strategic fundraiser who thrives in entrepreneurial environments and brings deep experience in major gifts, disciplined moves management, and collaborative partnership with executive and program leadership.

Key Responsibilities

In this exciting role, you will be responsible for a variety of critical operational responsibilities, including:

Major Gift Portfolio Ownership

  • Own and actively manage a portfolio of approximately 75+ major donors and prospects with capacity for $25,000+ gifts.

  • Develop and execute individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans to maximize donor engagement and revenue growth.

  • Drive revenue performance for the major gifts portfolio, with clear annual fundraising goals and accountability.

  • Conduct strategic prospect research and pipeline development to expand the universe of major gift prospects.


Moves Management & Pipeline Discipline

  • Own the execution and integrity of BCP’s major gift moves management system, ensuring timely next steps, clear strategy, and measurable progress across the portfolio.

  • Maintain accurate and forward-looking donor records in Salesforce, tracking activity, strategy, and outcomes.

  • Partner with development colleagues to ensure alignment between major gifts, grants, annual giving, and events.

 

Executive & Program Partnership

  • Partner closely with the Founder to prepare for and execute major gift solicitations, ensuring effective use of time, relationships, and expertise.

  • Collaborate with program leadership to translate programmatic impact into compelling donor-facing strategies and proposals.

  • Leverage Board members, Advisory Council members, and other volunteer leaders as ambassadors and peer connectors to strengthen major gift cultivation efforts.

  • Partner with staff and consultants to strategically leverage BCP’s annual Gala and other events as cultivation and stewardship opportunities for major donors and prospects.

  • Ensure major gift prospects are thoughtfully integrated into event strategy and follow-up.

Campaign Preparation & Growth

  • Build and strengthen the major gifts pipeline in preparation for a future capital campaign.

  • Support campaign strategy development, prospect qualification, and donor communications as BCP advances its expansion plans.

  • Contribute to campaign collateral, case development, and donor strategy planning in partnership with leadership.

Qualifications

  • Deep commitment to advancing health equity and BCP’s mission.

  • 7+ years of progressive fundraising experience with proven success in major gifts.

  • Proven ability to manage and grow a portfolio of high-capacity donors, including a history of soliciting six and seven-figure donations.

  • Strong collaboration skills and comfort partnering closely with executive leadership. Past experience working with a Founder is a plus. 

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

  • Proficiency with Salesforce or comparable donor management systems.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

Salary & Benefits

The salary for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for this role is $180,000 - $200,000 with a generous benefits package. The exact salary that will be offered will be determined based on the final candidate’s skills and experience and aligned with BCP’s compensation policies.
