BOSTON, MA – Dr. Robyn Riseberg, Rebecca Powell, and Amy Kingman of Boston Community Pediatrics (BCP) received a New England EmmyⓇ Award in the Health/Medical Long Form Content category for the documentary film, Beyond Medicine: The Story of Boston Community Pediatrics. The honor recognizes the film's powerful portrayal of BCP's mission to deliver fully integrated, equitable healthcare to all children.
Produced in partnership with Another Age Productions and made possible through the support of the Plymouth Rock Assurance Foundation, Beyond Medicine chronicles the founding and vision of BCP. The film centers patient and family stories told from a position of strength, dignity, and possibility, while honoring the deep commitment of BCP's staff.
"When we founded BCP nearly six years ago, this award was a first we never imagined," said Founder Dr. Robyn Riseberg, "But, being first is something BCP knows well. We were the first nonprofit pediatric private practice in Massachusetts; we launched in the middle of a once-in-a-generation pandemic, and every day we continue to push what is possible in pediatric healthcare. This Emmy is a testament to the patients, families, and staff whose trust, commitment, and belief in a better model of care inspire us every day."
The New England EmmyⓇ Award, presented by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences New England Chapter, recognizes outstanding achievement in television and video production across the region.
BCP envisions a transformed, equitable system of pediatric healthcare; one that embraces a broader view of health, centers patient dignity, and gives every child the opportunity to thrive. Beyond Medicine captures that vision and charts a path toward a healthier, more equitable future for children and families.
About Boston Community Pediatrics
BCP is bringing income and racial equity to pediatric healthcare by providing all families, but particularly those with low-income, with comprehensive, high-quality, culturally competent care that puts the patient at the forefront of its delivery model, regardless of their insurance coverage or ability to pay. BCP has three main goals: 1) Ensure Boston’s children have access to the highest quality pediatric health care; 2) Increase access to, and reduce the stigma of, mental health care; and 3) Address social determinants of health through comprehensive, relationship-driven care and resource navigation.
