Boston nonprofit recognized for innovative healthcare delivery model
BOSTON, June 14, 2024 – Boston Community Pediatrics (BCP) received the 2024 Excellence in Innovation award during Mass. Nonprofit Network's 2024 Excellence Awards on June 12th. Each year, these prestigious awards celebrate outstanding contributions across six categories: Advocacy, Community-Building, Innovation, Leadership, Small Nonprofit, and Young Professional. The Nonprofit Excellence Awards are presented to six nonprofit organizations and employees that exemplify the most innovative, creative, and effective work being done throughout the Commonwealth.
Boston Community Pediatrics is the first nonprofit pediatric private practice in Massachusetts with a mission to bring income and racial equity to pediatric healthcare. BCP provides all families, but particularly those with low-income, comprehensive, high-quality care, putting the patient at the forefront of its delivery model, regardless of their insurance coverage or ability to pay. BCP’s work with pediatric patients supports the whole family, meaning BCP reaches over 3,000 people with all of its onsite programs and services.
“We are so honored to receive the 2024 Excellence in Innovation award,” said Dr. Robyn Riseberg, Founder of Boston Community Pediatrics. “At BCP we are committed to changing the way healthcare is delivered to all children through our new model of care that expands the definition of what it means to be healthy.”
Boston Community Pediatrics has developed care navigation and wellness programs that address the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) in new and integrated ways through improved access to resources and providing vital support to families. By gaining trust and working closely with families, leveraging partnerships with community organizations, enhancing care coordination, and actively addressing health-related social needs, BCP is positively transforming the lives of patients, promoting better health outcomes, and fostering community well-being.
The 2024 Nonprofit Excellence Award finalists emerged from a pool of nominees put forward by their peers and community members. An impartial panel of judges evaluated over 170 submissions spanning the entire state, ultimately singling out 30 finalists. From this select group, six winners were chosen with BCP as the winner in the Excellence in Innovation category.
